Welcome to my Steam Greenlight Spotlight, the place where each week I throw the spotlight on a game currently in the Steam Greenlight process that I think looks good.
In the spotlight this week is… Bonny’s adventure
What is Bonny’s adventure?
Bonny’s adventure is a game inspired by the likes of Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and Crash Bandicoot, or as they say on their Steam Greenlight page “the great Crash Bandicoot.” I love all three game series so instantly you know I’m interested.
Unlike those games however Bonny’s adventure places a greater emphasis on puzzles as it seeks to blend them with platform-adventure fun. Great idea and could make for a lot of fun so long as the puzzles are too difficult or long that they disrupt the flow of the game.
Bonny is an adorable looking tortoise, that’s a land turtle so no water, who has to help the local inhabitants of an archipelago recover some magical crystals to restore the magical balance of the world and stop an old witch because whenever magical crystals go missing its normally an old witch, wizard, or warlock behind it.
Check out the trailer (below) and tell me you don’t think it looks cute and fun. It’s bright, its colourful, it has a nice cartoony art style, I particularly love the big googly looking eyes on the spiders that attack you. There’s a classic collectable in the form of apples (do tortoises eat apples?) and if you notice Bonny is wearing a helmet at the start which disappears after the first time he takes damage which is a great way to present information to the player.
The music likewise fits in brilliantly with the cartoony world of Bonny’s adventure.
I really hope this game makes it to Steam, I think it looks brilliant and there are enough games like Donkey Kong, Crash Bandicoot, and Banjo and Kazooie. Check out the link to their greenlight page below the trailer and don’t forget to let me know what you think about this game in the comments below.
