Welcome to my Steam Greenlight Spotlight, the place where each week I throw the spotlight on a game currently in the Steam Greenlight process that I think looks good.
In the spotlight this week is… HeartBeat.
What is HeartBeat?
HeartBeat is a musical puzzle game where you have to “listen to the Heart of the game and follow its Beats”. You play as a little square that has to navigate mazes filled with our squares and all other manner of traps (like lasers) that move/fire in time to the beat of the music.
The game looks simple but has an interesting concept and it looks to be very very challenging. I’m terrible at puzzle games and I don’t have an ear for music but I want to give this game a go because it looks like it’d be a lot of fun, you know until you get stuck and want to bang your head against a wall as you are forced to listen to the same beat over and over again desperately trying to learn it to navigate your poor little square through the maze.
The game promises 99 levels (18 boss levels), 9 different enemies, a unique background rhythm for each level, and that it will be hard. Just watch the trailer (below) and you will begin to get a feel for just how hard this game could be.
There’s good news as well because there is a free demo available to download on indieDB (link here) with 12 levels to play which I plan to download in a minute and try. If people are interested I might record some of it and upload it onto YouTube so you can get a feel for it and laugh at just how awful I am at solving puzzles.
